Amazing Turquoise 2010: Ottoman Slipcover
Tutorial and Image Brought to you by: www.sew4home.com Written By: Liz Johnson
Put your feet up and ponder this age-old question: what's the difference between a footstool and an ottoman? Besides the fact that an ottoman sounds way fancier than a footstool, the only real differences are: 1) an ottoman is always upholstered (footstools needn't be), and 2) sometimes an ottoman has another job: large ones fill in as coffee tables and hollow ones can open up and act as storage boxes. Our ottoman was a favorite kitty perch and had definitely seen better days. Why buy new when you can make a simple cover? Home décor sewing to the rescue!

Cute Story Book Fabric Pendant Banner!
Image and Tutorial Brought to you By: sew4home.com
This super cute Alphabet Bunting tutorial not only creates a banner that looks great, it's also a secret learn-to-spell game. All the pennants have a front and back so you can put a different letter on each side. And, they're easy to string and re-string, so you can make lots and spell out a new word every day. May we suggest: I LOVE SEW4HOME?! This dandy little decoration is just one of the eight projects in our new Storybook Lil' Boy's Room Series sponsored by Moda Fabrics and featuring the nostalgic Lil' Rascals collection by Chloe's Closet .

Here's another one of those I've got to give this a try myself...as soon as I have some time. Right...isn't that always the case!? I would really love to make these up with my daughters name "Dakota" and my soon to be here son "Ayden". I think these would make for great room accents and seem to be fairly easy to make. In the mean time here is the link if you're interested in getting started with one for your child's room. Click here for the tutorial.

Here are some great creative crafting projects that lets you recycle items you would otherwise throw out!
If you're anything like me you have a zillion grocery bags. So I really like the crocheting with plastic yarn or plarn as they call it. I also love the gift wrap paper that is recycled in decoupage! Think of the amount of gift wrapping paper that is thrown away every Christmas and Birthday. I hope you feel inspired to use some of these ideas to recycle some of the "trash" you have around the house! Have a wonderful day and Happy Recycling!

Does your refrigerator need a pick-me-up? Hold those family pictures or reminder notes in place with your own handmade decorative glass magnets. These fancy magnets can be customized with scrapbook paper to take on any look you want. Decorative magnets also make a fantastic gift. These are simple and easy to create. I've been wanting to create some great designs myself...but just have not had the time for it. They would be great with cute words and phrases as well in a fun font and colors.
If you sell or make them yourself please feel free to contact me so I can feature you here on this page!
Happy Creating!
- Trace and cut out circles on your paper using the marbles as your guide.
- Lightly cover the front of a paper circle with decoupage paste and glue it to the back of the marble. Rub your fingers over the paper to smooth out any air bubbles. Let the glue dry 3 to 5 minutes before moving on to the next step.
- Cut a piece of magnet slightly smaller than the marble and attach it to the back of the paper. If you cannot find self-adhesive magnet strips, use Super Glue or a glue gun to attach a small craft magnet.
- Let your magnet dry before using it on a fridge, message board or any metal surface that needs a decorative touch.
Also, check here for a varied option of creating these...
